‘Showing Good Roses’
Presented by Sheldon Drobot and Sue Longhini
TUESDAY June 12, 2018, 7:00 pm
The Denver Rose Society rose show is coming up and we want to get everyone ready for the big show. How do you start? When do you pick your roses for the best bloom? What is the difference between a classic shrub and a modern shrub rose? Well we have the information for you. Sheldon Drobot and Sue Longhini, prolific rose show winners, will present their tips on pre-rose show preparation and grooming techniques. Sheldon, who is the Rose Show Chair, will present and discuss the show schedule and Sue will share her bag of grooming supplies and grooming techniques. After the presentation there will be time for question and answers. Join us to learn growing and showing techniques from ‘proven winners.’ The rose show schedule can be found at this LINK.
~~~PARKING AT DBG FOR THE TUESDAY JUNE 12TH MEETING~~~
The North or Employee Parking Lot is now closed, so during construction, we will no longer be able to access that close-in parking to the Plant Society Building.
Our meeting takes place during DBG’s summer hours (9:00 am – 8:00 pm) so we will not need to enter through the Piñon Gate.
Plan to park in the parking facility. Enter via the Visitor Center and Gift Shop. Please identify yourself to the admission staff as a DRS member who is attending a DRS meeting. A list of members will be at the Visitor Center. Non-DRS members who plan to attend should mention the meeting, which is open to the public. There should be no admission charge to the Gardens to attend our meetings.
Proceed west through the gardens to the Plant Society Building. At the end of the Orangery, turn right down a wide paved ramp. The PSB is beyond the sliding gate on your left. When the program ends, the Garden’s Visitor Center will be closed. Exit through the Piñon Gate (to the left of the Visitor Center as you face east).
Bring a small flashlight if you’d like.
