South Suburban Parks and Recreation Rose Pruning Workshop

May 5, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

| Free

South Suburban Parks and Recreation will sponsor its annual “Rose Pruning Workshop” at the War Memorial Rose Garden, 5804 S. Bemis Street, in Littleton on Saturday, May 5th, 8 am to 12 pm.  Would you like to learn how to properly prune and nurture your roses? This workshop is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the care of our national flower from a professional horticulturist and rosarians while enhancing your skills for your own gardens. Please join South Suburban Parks and Recreation Horticulturist, Master Gardeners, Denver Rose Society and other gardeners for a fun-filled educational day of rose pruning.

The War Memorial Rose Garden is dedicated to veterans who have served in America’s wars, and is one of only two All-American Rose Select designations within the State of Colorado. The garden features 250 varieties of roses with more than 2,000 cultivars. Please bring a sharp pair of bypass type pruning shears and leather gloves for this hands-on training event. Knee pads are also helpful. Light refreshments will be served and an opportunity to win some fabulous door prizes related to growing roses in Colorado will be available.

To register for this workshop please contact Vanessa Greenhouse, administrative assistant, South Suburban’s, Willow Spring Service Center, 303.721.8478 ext. 68480 or e-mail vgreenhouse@sspr.org.  In the event of inclement weather, the alternate date will be at the same time on May 12th. To learn more about the War Memorial Rose Garden please visit our District website at hssprd.org/Portals/0/OnlineMap/rose_main.html.
